Two Port Elizabeth women have been murdered in separate incident reported by police in Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that 41-year-old Noliwe Mnyogolo was shot in the chest by one of two men who broke into their Walmer Township home in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“The suspects threatened the two victims and demanded cash and cell phones. When they explained that there was no cash, the suspects then took a cell phone, Naidu said.
“One of the suspect’s asked one victim about the whereabouts of her boyfriend and before she could answer, he fired a shot which fatally hit her in the chest.”
“At the time of the robbery there were three people in the house. Mnyogolo’s boyfriend was hiding in the room,” Naidu said.
She also said tha the body of a woman, Charlene Goliath, was found in an open field in Mpuko Street in Jacksonville, Port Elizabeth on Saturday morning.
“It is alleged that at about 23:00 on 9/06, Charlene Goliath, left a friend’s house to go home. She sustained multiple stab wounds to her body and face,” Naidu said.
“At this stage, motive for the fatal attack is not known and no suspects are arrested. Police in Bethelsdorp are appealing to the community to assist them in their investigation and anyone with information may contact D/Capt Kobus Williams on 082 825 2357,” Naidu said.
The Acting Cluster Commander for Mount Road Cluster, Brig Keith Meyer has strongly condemned these attacks and has called on the communites to work with the police and to report these perpetrators.
