Two PE men killed with stolen firearm in Walmer township

Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed two men in separate incidents in the Walmer Township over the weekend.

Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says in the early hours of Saturday morning, three suspects broke into a house in Federation street demanding money and phones.

She says when the 36-year-old Nkosivumile Ntukela told them he had no money he was shot in the hip and died.

Colonel Naidu says the suspects fled with three phones, a TV as well as a speaker box.

She says just a few hours later police received complaints of another shooting in the G-West area where they found the body of the 22-year-old Spranki Smama who sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Colonel Naidu says their investigation into both murders led them to a house in Zwide where they found the suspect with a .38 special revolver, ammunition and the stolen goods.

The gun was reported as stolen in Walmer earlier this month.

Naidu says it will now go for ballistic testing.

The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court soon where he will face two charges of murder, house robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as possession of stolen goods.

More arrests will follow.
