Two Port Elizabeth men in their thirties have been killed in the latest vigilante attacks reported by the police.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre’ Beetge, said that the body of a man was found early on Wednesday morning in Sakhuba Street in Zwide after he was attacked by a group of people.
He said the victim’s hands and feet were bound with wire and there was a rope around his neck.
“He had multiple injuries due to being severely assaulted. His body was partially burnt and he was wearing blue pants and green shirt,” Beetge said.
He said in a separate incident on Tuesday the body of another man was found in a stormwater channel behind Mboniselo Primary School in Mandela Village in Ikamvelihle in Motherwell.
“The male victim's hands were bound behind his back and his body covered in injuries from a severe assault by a group of unknown suspects. His body was also burnt using flammable objects,” said Beetge.
Meanwhile, a team of detectives investigating recent mob killings in Port Elizabeth, arrested five suspects in Kwazakele.
Beetge said that the four men and a woman were linked to the murder of 23-year-old Sinethemba Gwatya on 29 July.
They are due to appear in the New Brighton Magistrates Court on Thursday on a charge of murder.
