Two 50-year-old men will make their first appearance in the Riversdale Magistrates Court on Monday morning in connection with the murder of an 80-year-old woman from Jongensfontein.
The suspects were arrested near the small town Vermaaklikheid on Friday, two hours after the body of Ona Hugo was found in her home.
Hugo's vehicle was found in their possession. Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says Hugo's 92-year-old female friend survived the brutal attack and was admitted to hospital with bruises and a broken rib.
Pojie says the suspects gained access to the house through a bathroom window which they forced open.
According to police Hugo was strangled to death.
The suspects will face charges of murder, housebreaking, theft and theft of motor vehicle.
Pojie says more charges could be added.
