Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga has commended police in the province who seized more than R1.5 million worth of drugs over the weekend.
Late on Saturday night, Police at Indwe seized 19 bags of dagga, worth close on a million rand, loaded in the trailer of a Toyota Quantum in Voortrekker Street.
Two men aged 31 and 27 were arrested. The taxi was travelling from Ntabankulu and on its way to Cape Town.
In East London, Police K9 members noticed a vehicle making an illegal U-Turn at Moore Street in Quigney.
They managed to pull the VW polo over several streets away and found it packed with dagga.
Police seized 16 bags of dagga valued at close on R500 000 and arrested a 40-year-old suspect.
