Two people have been killed in an accident on the Olifantskop Pass on the N10 between Paterson and Cookhouse.
Eastern Cape Provincial Traffic Deputy Director Charles Bramwell says a truck overturned on the pass late on Wednesday night.
There were three occupants in the truck and the two passengers - a man and a woman - were declared dead on the scene.
Bramwell says the driver was apparently travelling at high speed and failed to negotiate a sharp bend on the pass.
Paterson police have opened a culpable homicide docket.
