Two people have been shot and killed and three others were wounded in another shooting incident in Kwanobule, Kariega.
According to police, two masked suspects fired shots at a 'jikeleza' taxi driver who was offloading passengers in Mqhaba Street on Tuesday afternoon.
The driver and two female passengers, one of whom was a teenager, managed to get out and run away but sustained gunshot wounds.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
She says the 14-year-old girl was shot in the back and the 31-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to her buttocks.
All three were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Colonel Naidu says two men, both aged 24, who were still inside the car were fatally wounded.
One of the deceased has been identified as Nkosiyabo Nqakula but the other victim's identity has not yet been established.
The motive for the shooting is unknown and police are still searching for the suspects.
