Two suspects appeared in court in Gqeberha on Thursday in connection with a shooting in Bethelsdorp in which two young people, including a 14-year-old youth, were fatally wounded.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said investigators arrested a 33-year-old suspect in Gelvandale on Tuesday, while a 21-year-old man was arrested at the Magistrate’s Court while attending another matter.
This followed a drive-by shooting incident in which 25-year-old Justin Malgas was killed while 14-year-old Kurtley Rossouw, was hit by a stray bullet while in his yard.
Naidu said Cheslyn Philander and Zane Geyers appeared in court on two charges of murder and one attempted murder.
She said the matter was postponed to 6 July when they are expected to bring a formal bail application.
Eastern Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene commended the investigators on the arrests adding that SAPS will oppose their bail application.
