Three former Selborne College learners facing eight counts of assault failed to appear in the East London Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Nineteen-year-old Liyema Badli, Liyabona Masebe and Alizwa Matwa are accused of severely assaulting several Grade 8 learners with cricket bats at their school hostel on the 20th of November 2022.
Several of the victims ended up in hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Magistrate Annemarie Elliot issued a warrant of arrest for the accused and ordered it to be held until their next court appearance on the 28th of July.
Matwa, who also did not attend his previous appearance, furnished the court with a sick note stating that he had an undisclosed medical condition.
Defence attorney Ayanda Gwabeni told the court that Badli and Masebene could not attend proceedings due to commitments at their respective universities.
Badli, who played 1st team rugby for his school, obtained four distinctions during last year's matric exams, while Matwa was captain of the school's 1st cricket team.
Badli and Matwa were hostel prefects and were expelled shortly after the incident.

Magistrate Elliot instructed the prosecutor to subpoena all the complainants to be present at the next court appearance for possible mediation.
The matter will likely take place "in camera" due to the fact that the victims are minors.
The case was postponed to the 28th of July.
The accused remain out on warning.
