Eastern Cape police said two of the seven men who escaped from the Waainek Correctional Centre in Makhanda on Tuesday, are back behind bars.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said Bennet Kwarrie was rearrested on the same day in Bloemfontein.
The second escapee, Simba Masinga, was recaptured on Wednesday night by a joint task team consisting of SAPS and Correctional Services officials.
Kinana said he was found hiding in the bushes near Committees Drift.
The two were part of a group of convicted rhino poachers, including six Zimbabweans, who broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The circumstances surrounding the break-out are under investigation.
Meanwhile, Kinana said the search for the five who are still on the run, is continuing, cautioning the public that the men are considered dangerous.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of any of these escapees is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Captain Glen Peter on 082 301 9427 or Crime Stop or the nearest police station.
