The Hawks in the Eastern Cape say no ransom demand has been received yet regarding the kidnapping of Gqeberha businessman, Ashraf Laher.
This was confirmed to Algoa FM News on Friday morning, by Hawks provincial spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela.
She also said there are no new developments after the Hawks took over the investigation.
Forty-five-year-old Laher was hijacked and kidnapped by several gunmen who accosted him on Durban Road on Wednesday, while he was in his Ford Ranger bakkie.
The vehicle was found abandoned in Sidwell later, with no sign of Laher.
Police have instituted a 72-hour activation plan in order to mobilise resources to find him and arrest the culprits.
Anyone who may have information that could assist should contact the police.
