Two EC men slain in a hit linked to taxi violence


Eastern Cape police have appealed to the public for help in solving a double murder in Kalikeni Location outside King Williams Town.

Police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, said two men, aged 35 and 39, were killed when gunmen opened fire at a family gathering on Thursday night.

The names of the victims were not released.

"Punzana Police are seeking the assistance of the public in tracking down the suspects that shot and killed two people at Kalikeni Location outside King Williams Town," said Mawisa.

"Last night at about 21h00 the family had a get together when they heard shots fired to their direction. Two people aged 35 and 49 years were fatally wounded on the scene and two other family members, both 52 years old, were taken to hospital for treatment," she said.

"One of them was discharged while the other one is still at hospital in a critically condition. A case of Murder and Attempted Murder has been opened for investigation. It is alleged that the incident can be taxi violence but investigation is continuing," Captai Mawisa said.
