Two children were killed following a head-on collision on Addo Road in Swartkops on Friday.
A spokesperson for police Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says at 6.30 am, a white Toyota Corolla was travelling from Markman in the direction of Wells Estate when a truck allegedly swerved in front of it.
She says when the truck swerved, the driver of the Toyota lost control of his vehicle and collided with an oncoming taxi.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the two victims, aged nine and 10 were passengers in the Corolla and were declared dead on the scene.
The names of the victims will only be released once they have formally been identified.
It is not yet clear if the victims were siblings as their parents were not present at the accident scene.
Police did however confirm that the victims were a boy and a girl.
Janse van Rensburg says there were other injured parties who were transported to the hospital.
A case of culpable homicide was opened and the investigation is ongoing.
