Members of East London's K-9 unit have arrested two suspects who robbed a tobacco truck of cigarettes worth hundreds of thousands of rands.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, says Warrant Officer Pieter Swanepoel and a Constable Fredericks, were involved in a shootout with the suspects in Scenery Park on Tuesday morning before they took the two into custody.
He says the pair recovered boxes of cigarettes valued at about 250 thousand rand, while also seizing two vehicles.
Mbi says the suspects, aged 30 and 32, will appear in court Thursday.
He says they are still searching for two other suspects.
