Members of the police's dog unit in Port Elizabeth may have prevented an armed robbery on Saturday, when they noticed a suspect VW Polo with two occupants during a patrol in Korsten, and investigated.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the vehicle was searched, and police confiscated an unlicensed firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
She says the two suspects, both in their 20s, were arrested at the scene and police also seized the vehicle.
The two men are expected to appear in court on Monday on charges of the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
