Twenty days of water left in Churchill Dam

The combined capacity of Nelson Mandela Bay's main supply dams has dropped below the critical 45% level.

Infrastructure and engineering MMC Annette Lovemore indicated at a previous briefing that once the 45% level is breached, the municipality would apply to government to have the Metro declared a disaster area.

According to the latest dam level figures, published on the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality website on Monday,  the Metro's main supply dams are now at a combined 43.11% of capacity.

The Churchill Dam, at 19.06% of capacity has roughly 20 days worth of water left.

The Kouga is at 27.11% of capacity, the Impofu at 68.55%, the Loerie at 41.75% and the Groendal Dam at 58.16% of capacity.
