Police in Gqeberha have identified the 12-year-old boy who died in an accident in Walmer on Sunday as Aiden Lewis.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says his mother has been discharged from hospital.
This, after the driver of a Kia Rio collided with a VW Caddy in Main Road between 10th and 11th avenues.
The boy died on arrival at hospital.
Janse van Rensburg says the driver of the Kia was also taken to hospital with injuries where a blood sample was taken before he was placed under arrest.
She says the 26-year-old suspect has been released on bail of R1 000, but is still hospitalised due to his injuries.
Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide and drunk driving.
