Eskom has implemented load-shedding for a fifth consecutive day on Tuesday. Stage 2 load-shedding is currently in progress until 10 pm.
Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe tweeted on Monday night that the prognosis from the system operator was that the power system would remain constrained for most of this week, with some relief from Friday.
The power utility had hoped to avoid load shedding during the week by conducting maintenance, replenish diesel supplies and top-up water reservoirs for pumped storage schemes over the weekend.
But, breakdowns at power generating units mean load shedding is set to continue.
