Police at Tsolo in the Eastern Cape are looking for any information that can lead to the arrest of 11 suspects who raped a teenager last Friday.
Spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says the 17-year-old victim was visiting with her friends on the 4th of September and when she returned home in the evening she was accosted by four men who dragged her to a nearby soccer field where they took turns to rape her.
He says after the rape they left her in the field in the New Homes informal settlement in the OR Tambo District.
It is further alleged that the four suspects were followed by two more groups consisting of seven men who continued raping the victim.
Brigadier Kinana says it is not yet clear if the suspects all knew each other and planned the horrendous act together.
A task team has been set up to find the suspects.
