The M19 and R75 in Despatch remain closed to traffic following protest action in the area.
Public Order Policing Unit members and local police officers remain on the scene.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says that around 6 am on Thursday, a group of protestors from the informal settlement in Bayland barricaded the M19 and R75 – Despatch.
They were reportedly protesting about the lack of water and electricity in the area and the removal of illegal electricity connections by the Municipality.
Colonel Naidu says a truck carrying lucerne was set alight around 6.25 am - no one was injured.
