Police in Gqeberha are on the lookout for 16 pallets of aluminium diesel tanks that were stolen during a hijacking.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says 10 armed suspects in three vehicles blocked a truck driver on Thursday afternoon, as he was turning onto the R335, Addo Road from the N2.
He says the 37-year-old truck driver and his passenger were threatened with a firearm and forced to drive to Ikamvelihle.
Captain Beetge says they were then driven away by some of the suspects in a Toyota Tazz, leaving the truck behind.
He says the truck was later found abandoned in Old Uitenhage Road.
The value of the diesel tanks is unknown at this stage.
No arrests have been made.
