Southern Cape police say a truck transporting lime from Heidelberg to Port Elizabeth has been hijacked and set alight.
Police spokesperson, captain Bernadine Steyn, says four men accosted the driver and his passenger when they stopped on the N-2 near Wilderness on Wednesday night.
She says the gang got into the truck and drove with the men towards George.
After stopping along the way to pick up an object along the road, the gang stopped again near Tembalethu township in George where the vehicle was set alight.
Steyn says the driver was unharmed while the passenger suffered slight injuries.
She says they're investigating the possibility that the incident was related to the ongoing truck drivers strike.
