Triumphant return to EC by Miss Universe

Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, made a triumphant return to her home village of Tsolo in the Eastern Cape on Sunday where a mural in her honour was unveiled.

Tunzi returned to the country this weekend for the first time after claiming the crown in Atlanta less than two months ago.

After a rousing welcome at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday, she made her way to the Eastern Cape to meet siblings, Lwando Hlazo and his sister Azola Ntlantsana, whose idea it was to create the mural on a wall at the Tsolo library.

“They were joined in the project by artist Aphethuxolo Sibariboyi,” according to a statement on Sunday.

The homecoming celebrations continued on Sunday afternoon where Miss Universe was the guest of honour at a VIP event at Mthatha Stadium.

Guests included King Zwelozuko Matiwane, Minister of Employment and Labour, Thulas Nxesi and the Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Noncedo Mafu.

Speaking during her homecoming celebrations at Mthatha Stadium, the 26-year-old said her Miss Universe title was a symbol of representation and inclusion.

"I say it means inclusion because when you see me, you see yourselves through me, and you are able to fight for the things that you want," she said.
