Tributes are pouring in for a well-known businessman from Plettenberg Bay who lost his life in a shark attack on Tuesday.
Bruce Wolov got into difficulty at Sanctuary Beach when eye-witnesses raised the alarm.
The NSRI responded with other role-players and Wolov's body was recovered from the back surf line and placed onto a rescue craft.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says a doctor declared him dead on the scene.
His family later issued a brief statement on social media describing Wolov as a loving husband, father, and friend who was taken from them far too soon, while doing what he was passionate about.
The Bitou Municipality says all beaches in Plettenberg Bay will remain closed for now.
It says while Plett is renowned for its natural beauty, both on land and in the sea, we need to constantly remind ourselves that we are visitors to nature and need to exercise caution when out in the natural environment.
The Municipality has urged people taking part in water activities at sea "to exercise caution be aware of their surroundings, and to heed any warnings from anyone in a position of authority."
