The Eastern Cape Transport Ministry will be launching its Easter Arrive Alive campaign in Aberdeen on Tuesday.
Department spokesperson, Ncedo Kumbaca, says the launch will signal an intensified road safety campaign as the Easter long weekend looms.
He says it will be the first time that provincial traffic officers will be deployed permanently on the N-9 between Aberdeen and Graaff Reinet, which he says is one of the most hazardous routes in the country.
"We will be handing over a new traffic station which will open at Aberdeen to ensure that we have permanent visibility in that area, which is very notorious. We will be handing over vehicles to traffic officers to improve their visibility on the roads. We will also be handing over vehicles to our emergency services at the Department on Health so that we can improve our response time at accidents" he said,
