Transnet launches competition in EL

Transnet National Ports Authority is putting its money where its musical mouth is.

The parastatal is launching a new, R50,000 competition to promote music and musical development in East London schools.

The competition will be held as part of the 2012 East London Port Festival in June.

Learners from schools throughout East London will compete in a number of genres, ranging from choirs and wind quartets to marimbas and bands.

The winning school will earn a R15,000 prize.
