Tragedy has struck a church group after a 16-year-old youth drowned and teenage girl was rescued from the surf in Jeffeys Bay.
NSRI spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says the search for the missing teenager continued late into Sunday afternoon.
The search will continue on Monday.
He says when rescue personnel arrived on the scene the girl had been pulled from the surf and was treated for symptons of near drowning.
Lambinon says the two 16 year olds were part of a church group on the beach and had been wading in the surf together when they were hit by a wave.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
