Counterfeit fragrances confiscated by a multi-disciplinary task team in Gqeberha

SAPS

A trader selling counterfeit perfumes in North End, Gqeberha was issued with a warning and had his goods valued at over R1.5 million confiscated by police.

A spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says SAPS is taking a strong stance to eliminate illegal trading in counterfeit goods which ultimately affects our economy.
She says on Thursday morning the Commander of the Port of Ngqura received information of counterfeit perfumes being sold at a shop in North Street and set up a joint operation with police and patent attorneys, Spoor and Fisher.
Colonel Naidu says police seized 751 units of ladies perfume that were handed over to the registered patent attorneys for storage at a licenced warehouse.
