A tourist who is on holiday in Mossel Bay has drowned.
A spokesperson for the national sea rescue institute Craig Lambinon says their crew was activated on Thursday following reports of a drowning in progress at Pinnacle Point.
He says the 61-year-old woman from Sweden was in the shallow water with her husband when she got swept out to sea by rip currents.
Lambinon says during the search the body of the lady was recovered an transported to the Mossel Bay harbour where it was handed over to Pathology services.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
