ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe is scheduled to return to Port Elizabeth on Monday to get feedback from a task team appointed to prepare the ruling party for next year's local government elections.
Mantashe confirmed earlier at a top level meeting that included President Jacob Zuma, that there would be no reshuffling of the ANC-led Council in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Last December, Zuma disbanded the ANC's regional executive committee in Nelson Mandela Bay and appointed a task team to prepare the ruling party for next year's local government elections.
Mantashe said he was happy with the progress the task team was making - but that there were still serious capacity problems in several areas.
"We are going back to look into all the reports we have received. We are coming back to finalise this phase of our intervention" he said.
