The Buffalo City Municipal manager Andile Fani has been put under precautionary suspension by members of Council.
Executive Mayor Alfred Mtsi told ALGOA FM NEWS that their decision arises from allegations that were previously put to Fani.
Some of the allegations against Fani include him having threatened municipal staff in an audio recording that was leaked to a local newspaper and his alleged involvement in the well-publicised tender box saga.
Fani has denied all the allegations and says foul play is at hand.
In a statement released to the media last week, Fani said his lawyers were working on fighting all the charges against him.
Mtsi said Tuesday's council meeting was meant to consider Fani's response to the allegations - and it was felt it better that he be off-site while any investigations are taking place.
