Police in Port Elizabeth are looking for a woman known as Megan who allegedly kidnapped a toddler from a beach.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 3-year-old was with his 52-year-old grandmother at a beach in Summerstrand when a woman, claiming to be from Schauderville struck up a conversation.
They then went to a nearby bottle stoor to get some alcohol.
She says they were waiting for the child's mother at the beach, but she never came.
The suspect, who introduced herself simply as Megan then took the child back to the shops to get cigarettes but never returned.
Naidu says Megan is about 25-30 years old with a dark complexion and fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Police have retrieved CCTV footage at the Pick 'n Pay centre where she took the child on Saturday.
