Toddler drowns in Uitenhage

Uitenhage police have opened an inquest docket, after a one and a half year old girl drowned in a swimming pool in the Mountain View neighborhood.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei says the child's body was found by a family member.

He says when paramedics arrived at the house, they tried to resuscitate her, but she was declared dead at the scene.
