The new manganese terminal to be constructed at the Port of Ngqura will be completed by the 2016/2017 financial year.
That's the word from Transnet CEO Brian Molefe.
Delivering Transnet's annual results on Tuesday, Molefe said the current facility in the Port Elizabeth Harbour will be relocated in 2016.
He added that 5.5 million tons of manganese had been exported through the PE habour facility in the past financial year, an increase of 14.2% year on the previous year.
Molefe said that once the manganese terminal is completed at Coega, there will need to be a dedicated rail line to the mines in the Northern Cape.
