The Tiffendell Ski Resort in the north Eastern Cape has a new owner.
The country's only ski resort, which has been closed for several years, was sold by auction in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The 101hectare piece of prime Eastern Cape real estate was sold ‘lock stock and barrel’ without reserve by the High Street Auction company for R5.5m
Sales director, Nick Pretorius, declined to identify the new owners but he said they are involved in the skiing industry.
"The property has been knocked down to our highest bidders... They are actually guys that are in the industry being snow skiing, so it's always nice to sell a property guys that are involved in the industry because what they are obviously going to do now is to get it back up and running and get Tiffindell back to its full glorius state," he add.
Tiffindell is locate on a farm in the southern Drakensburg near Rhodes on the foot of Ben McDhui Peak.
