The Department of Water Affairs says it is satisfied with the progress being made to ensure the sustainability of water supply in the Amatole Water Supply System.
In a statement Monday night, the Department said water conservation and water demand management planning has been undertaken in Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality and Amathole District Municipality, including Amatola Water.
Water Affairs says the implementation of the planned measures will ensure that there's at least a 10 percent saving on existing water use in the Amathole System.
The Department says Buffalo City, Amathole District Municipality and Amatola Water are all currently engaged in implementing various water conservation and water demand management projects which are showing good savings.
