The Hawks in the Eastern Cape said three men are due to appear in court next week following their arrest for the kidnapping of a foreign national business owner.
Spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, said the three, aged between 32 and 38 were arrested on Thursday by members of their kidnapping task team.
She said the trio faces charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion, theft of money, and money laundering.
Mgolodela said the three will join two relatives arrested earlier in connection with the 17 November kidnapping.
Forty-three-year-old Mlandela Gwadiso, a security guard of the kidnapping victim, and 25-year-old Bonginkosi Gwadiso were arrested on the same day and they remain in custody.
Mgolodela said the businessman was in his vehicle when he was confronted by four suspects who forced him to drive them in his vehicle which was later found abandoned.
She said the man was later released by the suspects who went on a R300 000 spending spree before they were arrested.
They will appear in the East London magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
