Eastern Cape police are investigating the killing of three rhinos on an Eastern Cape game reserve near Makhanda.
Provincial police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, said two adult rhinos were dehorned while a calf was shot and killed.
He said the carcasses were discovered at Lalibela Game Reserve on Monday.
Nkohli said the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
The latest incident brings to at least five, the number of rhinos killed on Eastern Cape reserves so far this year.
Early in February, two well-known rhinos, Bonnie and Clyde, were killed and dehorned at Schotia Safari Private Game Reserve.
The pair had survived a previous poaching attempt in 2012.
Meanwhile, SAPS are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) to contact SAPS Provincial Wildlife Coordinator, Captain Morne Viljoen on 082 319 9216 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
