Three Port Elizabeth murder suspects arrested

In a swift well co-ordinated, intelligence driven operation in Port Elizabeth, members from the Operational Command Centre, Visible Gang Intervention Unit, Provincial Gang Investigation Unit, Crime Intelligence, Public Order Policing and the Air wing, three suspects allegedly involved in two shooting incidents were arrested and detained.

It is alleged on Saturday, 19 November 2016 at about 09:30, the body of Mohamed Abdulla(40 years) was found lying in an open field in Bramlin Markman Road in Malabar. Abdulla sustained a gunshot wound to his face. His body was discovered by a pedestrian using the field as a shortcut.

According to police information, the deceased was abducted earlier in the morning from his house in Schauderville by the three suspects. The house where he was renting, was also set alight and completely gutted. Police have opened a case of murder, abduction and arson.

Also on Saturday at about 11:40, it is alleged that the same suspects went to a house in Lawler Street in Schauderville and fatally wounded Deon Matheyse(41). The victim and two friends were sitting in a shack at the back of the house when the suspects approached. They were assaulted and Matheyse was shot in his stomach. The other two victims managed to escape.

After the two shootings, police went on a manhunt for the suspects. At about 18:30, the suspects aged 21,23 and 31 years old were arrested while driving in a VW Polo in Algoa Park. They are expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 22 November 2016.
