Three people have died while four sustained injuries in a head-on collision on the N2 road in KwaBhaca in the Eastern Cape.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department said the crash occurred at about 08:00 on Sunday at Dangwana village when a Toyota bakkie with five occupants travelling towards Qumbu from the direction of KwaBhaca, collided with a VW Polo with two occupants going the opposite direction.
“Both occupants of the VW Polo along with one passenger of the bakkie died on the scene.
“The four injured males from the Toyota LDV, including the driver, were rushed to Madzikane Ka Zulu Memorial Hospital in KwaBhaca (Mt Frere) for further medical attention,” said Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose.
“It's alleged that reckless and negligent driving on wet roads or unfavorable weather conditions was the main cause for the crash,” he said.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Kwa Bhaca Saps for further investigations.
