Three PE youths appear in court for Providentia man's murder

Three Port Elizabeth youths have been released into the custody of their parents after they allegedly beat a 42-year old Providentia man to death at the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the three made a brief appearance on Monday at the juvenile detention centre, Nerina House in Schauderville.

Labans says one of the youths is the stepson of the victim, who cannot be identified to protect the teenager's identity.

He says there was apparently an argument between the man and the boy during the early hours of Sunday.

The boy then left and returned with two friends and the three then attacked the man and beat him to death.

The three will face a charge of murder.

The case has been postponed until the 24th November for further investigation.
