The NSRI has rescued three men whose rubber duck experienced engine failure off the wild side of Port Elizabeth late on Monday.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says they were notified shortly before 6pm that the 5.8 meter rigid inflatable boat was adrift at sea, somewhere between Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay.
The NSRI launched its sea rescue craft EIKOS RESCUER Four and along with an Airlink commercial aircraft coming in to land spotted the drifting boat as night fell.
The rescue craft rendevoused with the boat 2 nautical miles off-shore and all 3 men were found safe and uninjured.
The 3 men, aged 36, 43 and 54 abandoned their boat and were brought to the NSRI rescue base in the PE harbour shortly after 9pm.
