Eastern Cape police are investigating the murder of three men whose bodies were found in the main road of Mzamo Township at Indwe on Wednesday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said they had all sustained gunshot wounds.
He said the circumstances surrounding the murders are still unknown and that three counts of murder are under investigation.
Meanwhile, Kinana said in a separate shooting incident, also on Wednesday, a 52-year-old taxi owner succumbed to gunshot wounds after being shot in Butterworth.
He said the victim was waiting for his lift to arrive when unknown suspects shot him several times before fleeing.
“It is further alleged that a second victim, who was attempting to assist was also shot, and injured. The motive behind these attacks are unknown,” Kinana said.
The names of the deceased in both incidents have not yet been released and EC Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in both these cases to contact the investigating team on 082 301 7762.
