Eastern Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene has welcomed the three life terms imposed on convicted rapist Khululekani Ngqeza in the Makhanda High Court.
Ngqeza was also sentenced on Monday to 280 years imprisonment.
SAPS said 36-year-old Ngqeza's crime spree began in 2019 when he used Facebook to lure unsuspecting women on the promise of modelling work.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said he was finally arrested in 2020, after at least 10 females, aged between 15 and 21, fell victim to his exploits.
"He either met his victims in B& B's or in secluded bushy areas where he would make them pay for the photographs and then rape them," she said.
Ngqeza was arrested at a police roadblock at Kei Bridge on 19 May, 2020, after he raped a woman in Komani who immediately reported the incident.
Naidu said since his arrest, six other victims came forward and opened cases against him, three of whom were from the Western Cape.
She said Ngqeza remained in custody following his arrest and was convicted on 6 February on charges that included rape and trafficking in persons before he was jailed on Monday.
