Three killed on R56 outside Ugie

Three more people have died on Eastern Cape roads, this time on the R56 road between Ugie and Elliot.

This brings to at least 96 the number of people killed on the province's roads since the start of the festive season on the 1st of December.

The Transport department says a minibus taxi collided head-on with a sedan on Friday morning, killing three of the five occupants of the sedan (the driver and 2 passengers).

Ten more people sustained critical to minor injuries and have been transported to hospital in Maclear for further treatment.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by Ugie police.
