Three people have been killed in a road accident on the R61 near Ngcobo.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says a Nissan Micra was travelling from Ngcobo towards Cofimvaba when it overturned at around 2.30 am.
Three people were declared dead on the scene and one occupant sustained critical injuries.
There were four men and a woman in the car at the time of the time accident.
Two men and the woman, which included the driver, were declared dead on the scene. They were between the ages of 25 and 30.
The critically injured passenger was rushed to the All Saints Hospital for further medical care.
The Department says speeding appears to have been the main cause of the accident as the occupants were thrown out of the vehicle on impact.
A case of culpable homicide was opened with the police at Tsomo.
The names of the victims have not been released.
