Two people burnt beyond recognition in an accident that claimed three lives on the N6 just outside East London towards Stutterheim on Friday evening.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says is alleged that a VW Tiguan SUV with two occupants and a rigid truck, also with two occupants, collided.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says both vehicles veered off the road and the SUV caught fire.
Both occupants were burnt beyond recognition.
Binqose says the truck driver was declared dead at the scene, while his co-driver, sustained severe injuries and was taken to Frere Hospital.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
