A case of culpable homicide is being investigated after three people died in a head-on collision on the Mdantsane Access road in East London.
Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says the fatal accident involving three vehicles occurred at about 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
He says a Toyota Tazz carrying three occupants collided head-on with a Mercedez Benz, and then knocked the side of a Toyota Avanza which was travelling in the same direction.
Binqose says the three men who died in the accident include the driver of the Mercedez, the Tazz driver as well as his passenger.
He says the woman travelling in the Tazz, including the passengers in the Avanza, sustained severe injuries and were taken to the Frere Hospital for medical treatment.
Binqose says the accident was caused by negligent driving.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
