Three people have been killed in a road accident near Butterworth in the Eastern Cape.
Captain Jackson Manatha says a vehicle with four occupants overturned on the R409 between Butterworth and Msobomvu Township direction at around 7.30 on Saturday night.
The driver died at the scene and a male and female passenger died later in hospital in Butterworth.
A fourth passenger is recovering from his injuries in hospital.
Captain Manatha says the woman fatality has not yet been identified and is appealing to family members to come forward and assist police in the identification process.
The ages of the three deceased are believed to be between 19 and 21. Police have opened a culpable homicide docket.
