Three people were killed and three others were injured in an accident near King Williams Town on Saturday night.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said the accident happened after 6 pm on the R-102 between Ndevana and Phakamisa, which is the old road between King William's Town and East London.
He said the driver of a Corsa bakkie lost control of the vehicle on a bridge and it plunged into the river below.
Bramwell said three people died on the scene while three others were rushed to hospital.
He said the “driver was suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol”.
A culpable homicide docket has opened for investigation.
